On January 30, 2008, the Regional Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee (SU Investigative Committee) under the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation terminated the criminal case in connection with the death of a former accused of committing a series of racist attacks with firearms that occurred in the city in August 2008.
The man was charged with two murders, three attempted murders, illegal manufacture, possession and carrying of an improvised firing device, illegal manufacture of ammunition, as well as illegal acquisition, carrying, storage of a revolver and cartridges for it. Two crimes were qualified under part 3 of article 30, paragraph "l" of part 2 of article 05 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted murder motivated by national hatred).
Experts declared him insane.
The suspect confessed to the crimes in August 2008 and also confessed to unsolved attacks on June 30, 2006 on an Uzbek citizen and a resident of Perm on July 13, 2008 in the Motovilikha district.
On January 6, 2009, the defendant committed suicide in the pre-trial detention center. His name has not been released. No accomplices were identified during the proceedings. According to the final version, the attacker acted alone, under the influence of his morbid condition.
Recall that the man was detained on August 26, 2008, the Sverdlovsky District Court authorized the arrest of the suspect on August 28, 2008, he was charged in the department for especially important cases of the regional Investigative Committee under the RF Prosecutor's Office on September 3, 2008.
