Head of the FSB of the Russian Federation: “The activities of youth nationalist groups are a source of terrorist threats”

On February 10, 2009, the director of the FSB of the Russian Federation, the chairman of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC), Alexander Bortnikov, said that youth nationalist groups are becoming more active in Russia, resorting to violent methods to achieve their goals.

"Recently, the activities of various kinds of youth nationalist groups and organizations of a radical orientation, which are increasingly resorting to methods of violence to achieve their goals, have also been a source of terrorist threats," A. Bortnikov said at the committee's first meeting in 2009 .

He recalled that this problem was discussed at the end of 2008.
