In Kislovodsk, a serious conflict is brewing around the local mosque between officials and the Muslim community. Representatives of the mayor's office allocated to the Muslim community a territory for a mosque, on which an empty building and a wall, which are an architectural monument, are located.
No resolutions on the allocation of land and accompanying documentation were issued. In words, there was an agreement that believers could change something inside the provided building, but its external layout should not be changed. However, the Muslim community changed the external layout of the site, without coordinating their actions with the town planning commission of the city.
The issue of the mosque is planned to be resolved at an expanded meeting with the governor with the participation of the security forces of the region, the heads of the FSB, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the prosecutor's office, and representatives of the Cossacks.
In addition, at a meeting of the Committee for Relations with Nationalities, Cossacks and Religious Confessions, which was held in the Administration of the Stavropol Territory, it was decided to create a special commission on this issue.
