On February 16, 2009, in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), a court sentenced Sergei Yurkov, coordinator of the DPNI-Yakutia (he is also the head of the Russian Community NGO), for distributing leaflets calling on the population of the city of Neryungri to fight against the Chinese who discourage work.
S. Yurkov was found guilty under Part 3 of Art. 33 h. 1 art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization or management of the execution of actions aimed at inciting national hatred or enmity). He was sentenced to 2 years in prison to be served in a colony-settlement.
