Conflict between an entrepreneur and the monks of the Valaam Monastery in the Krasnodar Territory

In the Krasnodar Territory, businessman Gennady Bragin demanded in court that the buildings of the future church in the village of Aibga, Adler District, be demolished. The buildings are erected by the monks of the skete of the Valaam Monastery.

Litigation between G. Bragin, the owner of the firm "Agrodom", and the monks began in 2006. Then, by order of the businessman, a cross was torn out from the place of consecration of the temple in honor of the royal martyrs in Aigba.

A criminal case was opened against G. Bragin under Art. 214 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (vandalism). In January 2009, the court found the businessman guilty, but G. Bragin was released from liability due to the expiration of the limitation period for the claim.

During the investigation into the case of vandalism, it was found that the land on which the monks are trying to build a temple was misappropriated by the entrepreneur. The suit of the Federal Property Management Agency to invalidate the right to use the firm "Agrodom" this land was satisfied in December 2008 and the decision came into force.

Nevertheless, G. Bragin refuses to comply with the court decision and demands the demolition of the buildings of the skete of the Valaam monastery.
