A student from Benin was beaten in St. Petersburg

On February 22, 2009, at about 18:00 in St. Petersburg on Vasilyevsky Island, a 23-year-old citizen of Benin, a student of the St. Petersburg University of Telecommunications named after prof. M.A. Bonch-Bruevich. The student was attacked by three young people on Korablestroiteley Street, next to the dormitory of St. Petersburg State University.

A citizen of Benin was hospitalized with a closed craniocerebral injury. His front teeth were knocked out and his left knee was injured. Doctors assess the condition of the victim as moderate.

Two residents of the Komi Republic, aged 23 and 26, as well as a 21-year-old fourth-year student of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science of St. Petersburg State University, were detained on suspicion of an attack in hot pursuit. The issue of initiating a criminal case under Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (hooliganism) is being resolved.
