On February 25, 2009, in Moscow, at a board meeting of the Prosecutor General's Office, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev spoke about the judicial practice of combating extremism.
"Under today's conditions, manifestations of extremism are especially dangerous. In many cases, they are directly related to attempts to destabilize the situation in our society ," the President said.
Dmitry Medvedev recalled that prosecutors "have the right to submit proposals to the court on the liquidation of relevant public and religious organizations, as well as to suspend their activities until a court decision" .
