The head of the missionary department of the Tver diocese, Archpriest Alexander Shabanov, addressed journalists and employees of advertising companies. He noted that there are a lot of advertisements in the media advertising the services of magicians and healers.
"We are concerned about the use of Orthodox icons, crosses and other Christian symbols in this advertisement, which may give the impression that these healers and clairvoyants are Orthodox people," the appeal says .
A representative of the diocese told journalists and advertisers that the Church considers magic a sin, therefore "sorcerers, clairvoyants and other psychics do not have the moral right to use church paraphernalia for their own purposes, and in advertising in particular."
