The President of Ingushetia, Yunus-bek Yevkurov, instructed the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the muftiate not to persecute young people on religious grounds on the grounds that young people "do not go to the mosque with everyone else."
"It is customary to say that they are Wahhabists, but I don't think they are Wahhabists. They just have their own opinion," Yunus-bek Yevkurov said.
According to Yevkurov, 99% of the youth of Ingushetia are religious, and work is underway in the republic to test the institutions of religious education. The President of the Republic stated that efforts are currently being made to counter the schism based on religious differences.
Recall that in August 2008, elderly parishioners of the Karabulak mosque beat three young people on suspicion of "Wahhabism."
