In Chuvashia, seven people were convicted under Article 282 for distributing leaflets against the construction of a mosque

In Chuvashia, the court found seven residents of Novocheboksarsk aged 17 to 21 guilty under paragraphs. "a" and "c" part 2 of Art. 282 (incitement of national and religious hatred by an organized group with the use of violence), Ch. 1.2 Art. 213 (hooliganism with the use of weapons or objects used as weapons, committed by a group of persons by prior agreement or by an organized group), art. 214 (vandalism), art. 116 (beatings).

Two convicts formed a nationalist group in 2004, and five more later joined them. According to the press service of the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the republic, members of the group practiced training fights between participants, acquired materials of an extremist nature, and distributed their leaflets.

One of these leaflets, directed against the construction of a mosque, was pasted on the door of a Novocheboksary shop in April 2007. In January 2009, a criminal case was opened on the fact of this incident . The court recognized the actions of young people aimed at inciting religious and national hatred.

Later , several members of the group had their sentence commuted .
