In Omsk, the case of a fake bomb in front of a synagogue was sent to court

On March 24, 2009, it became known that the prosecutor's office of the Central District of Omsk sent a case against a 20-year-old young man accused under Art. 207 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (knowingly false report about an act of terrorism).

The investigation established that on November 2, 2008, the suspect made a fake explosive device in his apartment, brought it in a plastic bag to the building of the synagogue of the Jewish community of the Omsk region and left it at the gate of the building. After that, the young man called "02" of the Internal Affairs Directorate for the Omsk region and reported that a bomb had allegedly been planted near the synagogue.

The suspect admitted his guilt and stated that he wanted to hold an action on the eve of November 4 that could cause a public outcry.

In early April 2009, the Kuibyshevsky District Court of Omsk sentenced the defendant under Art. 207 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (knowingly false report of an act of terrorism) and sentenced him to 1 year suspended sentence with a probationary period of 1 year.
