On March 29, 2009, two Kazakh citizens were attacked on Academician Sakharov Avenue in Moscow. The attackers were 22-year-old Sergei Zhikharev and 20-year-old Victoria Petukhova, who, in the company of other far-right young people, came to Academician Sakharov Avenue in search of people with “non-Slavic appearance.” The women were first shouted racial slurs and then beaten and stabbed several times.
The incident became known only in July 2010 in connection with the report ofthe trial in this case.
