On April 4, in the center of Ulyanovsk, the Simbirsk branch of the Russian National Union (RONS), the People's Cathedral movement and the regional youth organization Region 73, with the blessing of John Kosykh, rector of the Neopalimov Church in Ulyanovsk, held an "anti-sectarian" rally. About 30 people took part in it.
The main demands of the protesters were calls for a ban on "sectarian groups and associations" in the region. According to RONS, half an hour after the start of the rally, communists appeared on the square and announced that they, too, had been authorized to hold an event in this place. There were a number of local conflicts.
"This rally is only a launching pad in the system of complex anti-sectarian events, which will be jointly carried out by associates of the regional branches of the RONS and the People's Cathedral," the RONS website reports .
It should be reminded that in November 2008 the campaign "Caution: sects!" was held in Ulyanovsk.
