Distributor of anti-Semitic leaflets sentenced in Samara

On April 27, 2009, the Oktyabrsky District Court of Samara delivered a judgment in the case under Part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (incitement of national, racial or religious hatred committed in public or using the media).

The accused Maxim Peshkov was sentenced to 6 months. imprisonment conditionally with a probationary period of 6 months. The lawyer is going to the court's decision and seek recognition of the innocence of the defendant.

Recall that the case was initiated in November 2008. Peshkov, together with Sergei Devyatkin, distributed anti-Semitic leaflets on poles and walls of houses. The victim in the case was the chairman of the Samara Jewish religious community, a representative of the Congress of Jewish Religious Communities and Organizations of Russia (KEROOR) Yevgeny Kaganov. Devyatkin was transferred from the status of the accused to the status of a witness, as he admitted his guilt.

On May 14, 2009 the verdict was appealed .
