On April 29, 2009, the head of the Movement Against Illegal Immigration (DPNI), Alexander Belov (Potkin), announced his resignation from the post of head of the organization. A few hours later, the leader of the "Slavic Union" (SS), Dmitry Demushkin, announced his intention to also leave his post.
He stated that the issue of leadership of the movement would be decided at the DPNI congress, and before that, the National Council of DPNI would collectively manage the organization.
According to Belov, he is sure that the trial against him will end with a verdict under Art. 282. Therefore, he resigns, ostensibly so that his associates do not have to renounce him, and also so as not to "bring" persecution on the whole movement.
Dmitry Demushkin said that after leaving his post he would join the governing council of the Slavic Union.
