Searches in Muslim organizations in Bashkiria

In early May, the FSB for the Republic of Bashkortostan searched the offices of several Muslim organizations and the apartments of Muslims in Ufa. In particular, the search took place in the office of the public organization Islamic Heritage of Bashkortostan (Miras).

The Islamic Heritage of Bashkortostan believes that this is an act of intimidation, since some members of the organization expressed dissatisfaction with the activities of the Republican Spiritual Administration of Muslims.

FSB spokesman Timur Khammatov said that the searches were being carried out as part of an investigation into the "case of the Milli Majlis" (perhaps this is a case being investigated in Kazan - Red) . However, during the search, documents not related to this case, as well as computers and telephones, were confiscated.
