The prosecutor's office of the Tomsk district of the Tomsk region appealed to the district court with three statements of claim for the demolition of the houses of the Kandinsky dacha partnership. The owners of the buildings are members of the Society for Krishna Consciousness.
An audit conducted by the prosecutor's office established that four capital construction projects were erected on agricultural land in Kandinka in violation of land legislation. Two organizers of the construction were brought to administrative responsibility under Article 9.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (construction or reconstruction without an appropriate permit).
Earlier, local residents opposed the construction , fearing the emergence of a Hare Krishna settlement. Rosselkhoznadzor found the construction illegal . The Tomsk diocese also spoke out against the construction. The speech of the head of the missionary department of the diocese, M. Stepanenko, was considered by the Hare Krishnas as offensive, but the prosecutor's office did not see any corpus delicti in his statements.
In June, the administration of the Rosselkhoznadzor announced the need to recultivate the land on which the Hare Krishnas erected buildings. “Now it all depends on the prosecutor’s office. If they force them to demolish, then they will be obliged to recultivate. But it’s not a fact that the land will return to circulation. The probability of this is 50/50,” said Alexei, head of the land control department of the Rosselkhoznadzor for the Tomsk region . Makarov during a press conference on June 9.
