On May 19, 2009, investigators and employees of the Federal Security Service of the Astrakhan region and the ORB of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Southern Federal District detained an 18-year-old 1st year student of the Akhtuba branch of the Moscow Aviation Institute. The investigating authorities of the Investigative Committee under the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation for the Astrakhan Region initiated a criminal case against the detainee under Part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (incitement of national hatred and enmity) and Part 1 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (creation of an extremist community).
The investigator filed a motion with the court to order the suspect to be taken into custody as a preventive measure. There is an investigation.
Since the beginning of 2008, an 18-year-old resident of Akhtubinsk "gathered extremist-minded individuals" and distributed among local residents videos with scenes of "executions of Russian servicemen by members of illegal gangs with ideological comments glorifying the superiority of radical Islamists in the Chechen Republic over other nationalities and confessions and their fight against the federal forces for independence" .
