Program "Development of national cultures and strengthening interethnic relations in Pyatigorsk"

At the beginning of June 2009, a draft city target program "Development of national cultures and strengthening of interethnic relations in the city" was presented in Pyatigorsk. The project was presented during a round table on the topic "Interaction between local self-government bodies and national-cultural associations". This was reported in the press service of the City Duma on June 8.

The event was attended by Chairman of the Public Council of the city Igor Kalinsky, Deputy Director of the Pyatigorsk branch of the North Caucasus Academy of Public Administration Maya Astvatsaturova, Head of the Information and Analytical Work Department of the City Council of Pyatigorsk Daria Babicheva, heads of national-cultural associations, religious denominations, public organizations, representatives of law enforcement agencies , universities of Pyatigorsk.

As Igor Kalinsky noted, the main goal of the program is "the strengthening of civil unity on the basis of interethnic interaction and the progressive development of ethno-cultural processes. It is intended to become the basis for strengthening peace and harmony between representatives of different nationalities and religions. The document includes a system of measures and measures to prevent and timely localization of situations of interethnic contradictions".

The participants of the round table proposed to implement a number of ideas to stabilize interethnic relations in the city. During the event, the idea of ​​creating a center for intercultural interaction, the need to establish educational work with nonresident students on compliance with the norms and rules of public order in the city was voiced. The participants supported the proposal to create an Alley of National Cultures with the participation of young people, which will symbolize the unity of nationalities. This and other proposals will be studied and will complement the draft program under development.
