On June 15, 2009, the Supreme Court of Dagestan accepted for consideration the claim of the department of Rossvyazkomnadzor in the Republic of Dagestan for the liquidation of the Chernovik newspaper. The lawsuit is based on two warnings issued to the newspaper about the inadmissibility of extremist activity.
Preliminary hearings on the lawsuit are scheduled to begin June 18.
Let us remind you that a criminal case was also opened against the newspaper’s employees under the article on inciting hatred on the basis of nationality and professional affiliation (law enforcement officers).
We consider both the issuance of warnings and the current lawsuit to liquidate the newspaper, as well as the criminal case under Art. 282.
On June 25, 2009, the Supreme Court of Dagestan decided to terminate the proceedings until the results of an additional linguistic and psychological examination were received, which would be carried out at the Gladys Center in Moscow.
