The verdict of Alexander Belov was appealed

On June 23, 2009, the prosecutor's office appealed against the conviction of the former leader of the Movement Against Illegal Migration (DPNI) Alexander Belov, who received a suspended sentence on charges of inciting ethnic hatred. The prosecutor's office appealed to the Moscow City Court with a request to cancel the verdict and send the case for a new trial.

"I received a copy of the cassation presentation of the prosecutor's office, they consider the sentence too lenient ," A. Belov said. According to him, the prosecutor's office in the submission states that the court underestimated the degree of public danger of the act.

It should be reminded that earlier the Dorogomilovsky District Court of Moscow sentenced A. Belov to one and a half years of imprisonment conditionally under Part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The case was initiated on the fact of his speech at the rally that ended the "Russian March - 2007".
