On June 21, 2009, in the village of Irgakly, Stepnovsky District, Stavropol Territory, a mass brawl broke out between Dargins and Nogais.
Later, details became known that Sh. Mirzaev, R. Shakhbanov and Sh. Shakhbanov, together with 50 ethnic Dargins, attacked the house where the Nogais lived - R. Tangatova with two small daughters. The attackers shouted racist slurs and demanded the eviction of all Nogais from the village. After that, they began to throw at the windows houses stones and sticks.
It became known about the actions of the Nogais. - Rumil Ilmukhambetov, Rinat Suleimanov, Abdullatif and Marat Naumanov, Amir and Marat Tangatov approached the house where the Dargin family lived and began to shout out demands for eviction. Then they began to call on mobile phones, calling on other Nogays to join them. As a result, a group of at least 100 people gathered, came to the house and attacked the people in it. The attackers threw stones, shouted out nationalist appeals, insults, demands for the eviction of the Dargins from the village, beat 4 people who were defending their house.
Illegal actions were stopped only after the intervention of law enforcement officers.
Several young people were injured. 40 people were detained.
Earlier, both sides of the conflict stated that there was no ethnic background in what happened. But the statement of the governor of the Stavropol Territory, Valery Gayevsky, that "160 young people cannot have a personal dislike for each other" is indicative . Note that these statements do not contradict each other. Very often, conflicts that really start as domestic ones, then develop into mass fights, which all parties to the conflict interpret in ethnic terms.
It is also known that on June 7, 2009, another conflict took place in another district of the Stavropol Territory, as a result of which two people were killed. Moreover, law enforcement agencies then expressed fears that the conflict could also develop into a confrontation with ethnic motivation.
In March 2010, the case against the Nogai attackers was brought to court.
