On June 24, Chief Rabbi of Russia Berl Lazar and Presidential Envoy to the Urals Federal District Nikolai Vinnichenko signed a cooperation agreement.
According to this document, the parties will "contribute to the consolidation of society in the field of spiritual and social support for citizens, the coordination of social programs designed to meet the urgent needs of low-income segments of the population, the elderly, and the disabled."
As priority areas of cooperation, B. Lazar and N. Vinnichenko noted the strengthening in Russian society of respect for all the peoples of Russia, their cultural heritage and religious traditions; instilling in young people intolerance towards nationalism, any form of Nazi and totalitarian ideology; implementation of state and expansion of non-state measures to support veterans of the Great Patriotic War and prisoners of Nazi ghettos and concentration camps; assistance in the restoration and preservation of historical religious buildings, the gradual return of religious buildings to believers.
The agreement also provides for cooperation in the field of spiritual and educational work in the Russian army, law enforcement agencies, spiritual and moral preparation of young people to serve the Fatherland.
