Attacks on foreigners in the Moscow region

On June 16, 2009, natives of Tajikistan were beaten in the Moscow region. The victims were hospitalized at Protvino City Hospital with a diagnosis of traumatic brain injuries.

A group of young people sent SMS messages to citizens of Tajikistan on behalf of the girls, in which they proposed to meet under the pretext of further communication in a forest area near a power line located across the road from one of the schools in the city of Protvino. On the spot, young people attacked the Tajiks, shouting “Glory to Russia! Russia for the Russians!” , and they were brutally beaten. The attackers used a carbonated aerosol spray called "Udar".

The Investigation Department of the Moscow Region Prosecutor's Office opened a criminal case for causing grievous bodily harm.

One of the migrants has already been discharged, while the second is in a coma and was transferred to a hospital in the capital. The man subsequently died from his injuries.

The news about the attack also reports that in the summer of 2009, a citizen of Uzbekistan was killed in Protvino. The foreigner died from his injuries in the hospital, where he was taken with a traumatic brain injury. It has been suggested that the citizen of Uzbekistan was probably attacked by a group of teenagers, just like the natives of Tajikistan.
