Speaking at a special meeting on July 21, the President of the Russian Federation stated that he supported the idea of ​​introducing the institution of military and naval clergy into the army.

"I consider it expedient to organize the work on a permanent basis in our Armed Forces of priests representing traditional Russian confessions," Dmitry Medvedev said.

The President also called for the introduction of the institution of military and naval clergy in the Russian Armed Forces to be guided by real information about the ethno-confessional composition of units and formations.
