On August 2, 2009, on the day of the Airborne Forces in the Kanavinsky district of Nizhny Novgorod, a mass brawl broke out between former paratroopers and natives of the Caucasus. The Caucasian diaspora lives in this area. The largest Central Market in the city is also located here.

The media noted that "the fight was stopped by the police who arrived at the scene." Eyewitnesses in blogs report that "Caucasians" collected goods by 60% and left the market .
About 10 paratroopers turned to the emergency room for medical help. One of them was hospitalized. In addition, about 20 people were hospitalized in one of the hospitals in Nizhny Novgorod with bruises and cut wounds.
