A case has been opened in Moscow over calls for violence against people of “non-Slavic appearance”

On August 27, 2009, a criminal case was opened in Moscow against a 69-year-old pensioner who, from May 2008 to February 2009, encouraged his acquaintances to commit violence against people of “non-Slavic appearance” in a cafe-bar on Dekabristov Street.

Unfortunately, it is not clear from the media under which article - 280 (public calls for extremist activity) or 282 (incitement of national hatred) the case was initiated.

On April 29, 2010, the Butyrsky District Court of Moscow sentenced under Art. 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public calls for extremist activity) and Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (incitement of national hatred) accused Vitaly Pasekov to 1 year and 2 months of suspended imprisonment and compulsory psychiatric treatment at the place of residence.
