Convicted for racist murder

On September 22, 2009, the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court convicted five teenagers accused of murdering a Tajik citizen on September 21, 2008 in the city of Dzerzhinsk.

The parents of the perpetrators were ordered to pay compensation to the relatives of the deceased for moral damages. The verdict is going to be appealed to the Supreme Court of Russia.

To consider the case in the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court, a jury was created. Koryakin and Romanov (the one who inflicted stab wounds and the one who shot) were found guilty under part 2 of the paragraph. "f,i,l" article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder committed by a group of persons motivated by national hatred), the rest - under part 2 of paragraph "a.b" of article 116 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (beating committed by a group of persons motivated by national hatred). It should be noted that earlier the defendants were charged with Part 2 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (hooliganism committed by a group of persons motivated by national hatred) and Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (deliberate infliction of minor bodily harm, committed motivated by national hatred).

On December 10, 2009, the Supreme Court upheld the verdict.
