On September 18, 2009, a meeting of the Regional Public Council for the Spiritual and Moral Education of Children and Youth was held in Kursk with the participation of Governor Alexander Mikhailov, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Government Vladimir Proskurin and the ruling Bishop of the Kursk Diocese of the ROC MP Archbishop German (Moralin).
At the meeting, some figures regarding the teaching of the OPK in the region were announced. Thus, in 2008, the number of Kursk schools where the OPK was studied in the elective format reached 96% (767 educational institutions). The number of students who study the GPC on a voluntary basis has reached 60%. In the 2009-2010 academic year, it is planned to cover all 100% of schools with the EIC, due to which their number is expected to increase to 65%.
According to the press service of the governor of the Kursk region, 497 teachers of the region applied to the Public Council for the Spiritual and Moral Education of Children and Youth with a letter about teaching the subject of the military-industrial complex in a lesson form. At the same time, at the meeting of the council, it was decided to limit the course to the status of an elective with its study from grades 2 to 11.
