The Muslim Spiritual Board of Adygea and the Krasnodar Territory is outraged by the “anti-Wahhabi” report shown by the local TV channel

On September 14, a meeting of the Spiritual Board of Muslims (SUM) of Adygea and the Krasnodar Territory was held at the Maikop Mosque. It discussed a TV report shown the day before by one of the local TV channels.

On September 12, the TV channel "People's Television of Kuban" in the weekly program "Facts of the Week" aired the story "What does Wahhabism have in common with terrorism?" Its author, Alla Pogorelova, claimed that in Adygea and the Krasnodar Territory "the Wahhabi underground is flourishing," and extremist leaflets are distributed in the Maikop mosque and recruitment into this very "underground" takes place. According to the correspondent, "More often Islam is associated with Wahhabism - an aggressive ideology, the purpose of which is to kill all infidels."

At the same time, in none of the interviews with Muslims included in the plot (including Mufti Nurbiy Emizh and imam of the village of Yablonovsky Anzor Dzeukozhev) and police officers, the existence of a "Wahhabi underground" was not confirmed, nor was a definition of "Wahhabism" given.

According to the participants of the meeting in the DUM, the author of the story and the journalists who aired the program deliberately incite religious and national hatred (the story stated that the main distributors of "Wahhabism" were Adyghe repatriates). The DUM sent a protest to the regional and federal authorities.
