Representatives of the Society for Krishna Consciousness intend to prosecute the head of the Saratov Center for Religious Studies

The Center for Societies for Krishna Consciousness in Russia filed an application with the Investigative Committee under the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation in Moscow with a request to prosecute the head of the Saratov regional branch of the "Center for Religious Studies" Alexander Kuzmin for committing a crime under paragraph "b" part 2 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (actions aimed at inciting hatred and enmity, as well as humiliating the dignity of a person or a group of persons on the grounds of an attitude to religion, committed publicly by a person using his official position). Subsequently, the application was transferred to the Investigation Department (SU) for the Saratov region, then to the Investigation Department for the Oktyabrsky and SO for the Kirovsky district of Saratov. In this document, the authors referred to a leaflet distributed by the Young Guard of United Russia and other materials from A. Kuzmin's website.

Let us recall that on January 19, 2009, the Central District Court of Khabarovsk recognized the anti-Krishna leaflet distributed by the Young Guard of United Russia as extremist.

At the end of September, it became known that the Judicial Collegium for Civil Cases of the Khabarovsk Regional Court overturned this decision.

We also recall that earlier the investigative department of the FSB Department for the Saratov region refused to initiate a criminal case against A. Kuzmin. The initiation of the case was sought by members of the Saratov Church of Evangelical Christians "Word of Life", according to which A. Kuzmin contributed to inciting religious hatred.
