On October 12, 2009, in the village of Kardonikskaya, Zelenchuksky district of Karachay-Cherkessia, an Orthodox cross was cut down, erected in memory of the fast, which was created by the Cossacks in this area in 1860. Unknown vandals left the sawn cross in place.
The ataman of the local Cossack society filed a complaint with the police. Police officers examined the scene. The issue of initiating a criminal case is being resolved.
The cross, made of metal, weighing several tens of kilograms, was installed by the Kardoniki Cossack Society in 2008 on the eastern outskirts of the village.
Recall that earlier the cross was cut down in Adygea.
