On October 18, 2009 in Penza, representatives of Christian youth, Cossacks and public organizations held a picket against the activities of Jehovah's Witnesses near the building of their community. The picketers held posters and sang church hymns.
“It is indignant that in our Penza land, however, as in our country everywhere in Russia, sectarians operate so easily and naturally. These are not only Jehovah’s Witnesses, these are notorious Mormons, the sect of Moonies, Hare Krishnas, that they find support and can so easily penetrate our country," Maxim Degis, a member of the Pokrov Orthodox Youth Society, said.
