Verdict under Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation in Kostroma

On October 19, 2009, the verdict of the Kostroma District Court came into force against a 25-year-old resident of the Kostroma District, who was accused under Part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (incitement of national hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity), Part 2 of Article 129 of the Criminal Code RF (slander).

The court determined the punishment in the form of correctional labor for a period of 1 year with deduction of 10% of monthly earnings to the state income. When imposing punishment, the court took into account the appearance of confession and confession of guilt of the accused.

From November 2008 to February 2009, a young man under the name "Doberman 8888" posted nationalistic statements on the "Kostroma Jedi Forum" on the Internet.

According to the conclusions of psychological and linguistic research, the statements "contain statements, statements aimed at inciting hatred and enmity on the basis of nationality and belonging to a social group" .

Also on April 30, 2009, the young man deliberately disseminated on the Internet "inconsistent, deliberately false information that discredits the honor and dignity of his friend and undermines her reputation" .
