Criminal case against Tula activist of DPNI

On October 22, 2009, the Investigative Department of the UPC for the Tula region opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 282 against the owner of the Tula-Press bookstore, local DPNI activist Nina Zenkova.

The reason for initiating a criminal case was the sale by her in July 2009 of a number of right-wing publications, at least one of which by that time had been recognized as extremist materials and included in the Federal List (we are talking about Dobroslav's book "Paganism: sunset and dawn" (p. 30 )). In addition, she was charged with xenophobic agitation of store buyers and the sale of other right-wing radical literature, which was also regarded by law enforcement agencies as extremist.

On October 28, 2009, in Tula, the premises of the Tula-Press bookstore were once again searched.

Issues of the publications "Russkaya Pravda", "For the Russian Case", "Russkiy Vestnik", as well as the brochures of G. Klimov "Poisonous Fish" and Y. Fedoseev "Xenophobia or Self-Defense" were seized (by the time of the search, it was known that both extremist by court decision, but not yet included in the Federal List of Extremist Materials , later it became known that the decision on the text of Y. Fedoseev was canceled). Later, the fact that some of the materials confiscated and incriminated by N. Zenkova were not recognized as extremist became the basis for an attempt to appeal against the decision to initiate a criminal case.

According to the store owner, a member of the local branch of the DPNI, Nina Zenkova, searches also took place at her home. At the same time, she claimed that the decision to bring her as a defendant in a criminal case had not been handed over to her, but the case had been reported orally.

It should be reminded that in July 2008 Nina Zenkova was issued a prosecutor's warning on the fact of distribution of "extremist" literature in her shop.
