A joint statement of the Russian Orthodox Church and A Just Russia was adopted

On November 30, a meeting of representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church and deputies of the Just Russia faction was held in the State Duma. It was devoted to the discussion of the value aspects of the program documents of "A Just Russia", the Fundamentals of the Social Concept of the Russian Orthodox Church and the statements of the Expert Council "Economics and Ethics" under the Patriarch on the financial and economic crisis and its causes and on the strategy of long-term socio-economic development of Russia. Following the meeting, a joint statement was adopted .

"It is necessary to raise the issue of legislative formalization of the state's strategic partnership at the federal and regional levels with the traditional religious communities of Russia, which have high public authority and the potential to implement socially significant projects," the document says.

The meeting participants agreed to continue regular consultations "on topical issues of mutual interest."

Recall that in July 2009, the Russian Orthodox Church agreed to cooperate with the United Russia party.
