In Krasnodar, the prosecutor's office asks the court to recognize the materials of Jehovah's Witnesses as extremist.

On March 11, 2009, the prosecutor of the Krasnodar Territory applied to the Pervomaisky District Court of Krasnodar with a statement declaring three magazines, Watchtower, and the book Draw Close to Jehovah as extremist.

As the basis for their claims, the prosecutors submitted to the court an expert study conducted in November 2008 by the chief expert of the Forensic Expert Center of the Main Department of Internal Affairs in the Krasnodar Territory, candidate of philological sciences S. Fedyaev. S. Fedyaev conducted research on behalf of another law enforcement agency - the FSB Directorate for the Krasnodar Territory.

The expert came to the conclusion that in the texts he studied in the texts of Jehovah's Witnesses there are calls for violence, incitement of religious hatred and discord, as well as humiliation of human dignity.

At the initiative of lawyers representing the interests of Jehovah's Witnesses, two independent examinations were carried out. The first was conducted by the director of the Humanitarian Center of the Krasnodar State University of Culture and Arts, Ph.D. professor B.P. Borisov together with d.ph.s. Professor P.S. Volkova and philologist Urbanovich L.E.; the second - head of the department of experimental lexicography of the Institute of the Russian Language. V.V. Vinogradov RAS Professor A.N. Baranov.

The authors of independent studies did not find any signs of extremism in the materials of Jehovah's Witnesses.

On June 29, 2009, the Pervomaisky District Court issued a ruling on the appointment of a forensic complex psychological and linguistic examination, entrusting its production to the State Institution "Southern Regional Center for Forensic Expertise" of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation.
