The Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg asks the governor of the city, Valentina Matvienko, to deal with the issue of the permissibility of sacrifices in the city during Muslim holidays. Oleg Nilov, the leader of the Just Russia faction, the author of the request adopted by the Parliament, draws V. Matvienko's attention to the fact that on the day of the beginning of the Eid al-Adha holiday, representatives of the Islamic community slaughtered several sheep in Apraksin Dvor.
O. Nilov believes that the majority of St. Petersburg residents are shocked by such spectacles and draws attention to the issue of hygiene and sanitation.
"I ask you to answer the following question: do you consider it necessary to regulate the slaughter of animals in St. Petersburg during religious holidays?" - the request says.
Portal-Credo reports that when performing a sacrifice in St. Petersburg, Islamic traditions were violated.
