On December 5, 2009, an attack was made on priest Vitaly Zubkov, the second cleric of the Church of the Apostle Thomas on Kantemirovskaya in Moscow, whose rector, priest Daniil Sysoev, was shot dead on November 19, 2009.
V. Zubkov was attacked on the way to the temple. Three unidentified persons threw the priest to the ground and started kicking him, without shouting any slogans, without making any attempts to rob him. The victims could not see the faces of the attackers.
V. Zubkov himself considers the attack connected with the murder of D. Sysoev.
Immediately after the murder of D. Sysoev, ultra-right organizations, speculating on the "Caucasian" version of the murder, began to declare that they were organizing the protection of the temple from volunteers, who were even guaranteed hot food during duty. However, no one came to help the injured priest during the attack.
After the beating, bikers from the Night Wolves club declared their readiness to guard the temple.
