On November 20, 2009, in the city of Kopeysk (Chelyabinsk region), a group of drunk teenagers beat to death a homeless man they met on the street. A 57-year-old man in a coma was taken to a local hospital and, without regaining consciousness, died on December 3.
On suspicion of committing this crime, five people aged 16 to 19 were detained.
Currently, the crime is qualified under Part 4 of Art. 111 (deliberate infliction of grievous bodily harm, negligently resulting in the death of the victim), however, the investigation does not exclude the possibility that the qualification will be changed taking into account the motive of hatred: the detainees declared their involvement with Nazi skinheads.
Currently, the 16-year-old suspect in the fatal blows is in custody, the other participants in the beating are on bail.
