In the Stavropol Territory, an experiment on spiritual and moral education of schoolchildren will begin in April 2010. A preliminary survey was conducted among schoolchildren and their parents to determine which course would be preferred.

During the surveys, it turned out that the majority decided to choose to study the basics of secular ethics. Next in popularity comes the history of world religions, then Orthodoxy, then Islam. Judaism and Buddhism, according to the regional authorities, “were chosen by a few.”

Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Stavropol Territory Vasily Balditsyn said that the region does not have the capabilities to individually train schoolchildren who chose subjects that turned out to be the least popular.

Let us recall that at the end of November, data on the preferences of schoolchildren in the Sverdlovsk region in this area became known.
