The Moscow prosecutor's office issued an anti-extremist warning to the heads of two publications

On December 14, the Moscow prosecutor's office announced that it was carrying out inspections of compliance with legislation on countering extremist activity in the capital, as a result of which the editor-in-chief of the Izvestia newspaper and the general director of DA LLC for publishing in February 2009 an article by State Duma deputy Sergei Markov "New Russia and New Turkey in the new world" warnings were issued. The prosecutor's office reports that the article "approves the activities of the leader of the banned religious association Nurcular." This organization was banned in Russia in 2008.

The article was prepared by Izvestia and then reprinted by the Turkish magazine DA (Dialogue Eurasia) specifically for the visit of Turkish President Abdullah Gul to Moscow. It is noteworthy that the name of the banned organization is never mentioned in it, but, among other things, it tells about Fethullah Gülen, the informal leader of the international Muslim movement. Obviously, according to the prosecutor's office, this movement is Nurcular. According to the representatives of the magazine, Gülen is not only a leader, but also a member of Nurcular.

Based on the results of the checks, the city prosecutor's office issued warnings about the inadmissibility of violations of the Federal Law "On Counteracting Extremist Activity" to the editor-in-chief of the Izvestiya newspaper and the general director of OOO DA.
