Racist attack in a taxi

On the night of February 7, 2010 in Yekaterinburg, 23-year-old Dmitry Kalimulin attacked a native of Azerbaijan.

The incident occurred in a taxi driven by a native of Transcaucasia. Kalimulin insulted the taxi driver and hit him several times. The attack was motivated by national hatred.

In May 2010, the world court of the Leninsky district of Yekaterinburg sentenced Kalimulin under Art. 130 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (insult), art. 116 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (beatings) to punishment in the form of compulsory labor for a period of 190 hours.

The case was considered in a special order. During the trial, the defendant apologized to the victim, who, in turn, stated that the choice of punishment for the defendant was left to the discretion of the court. Note that the victim did not file a civil claim.
