Proceedings in the case of an administrative offense against Jehovah's Witnesses have been terminated in Tatarstan

On January 19, 2010, the Magistrate Court of the city of Naberezhnye Chelny found a member of the religious organization Jehovah's Witnesses guilty of committing an administrative offense under Part 1 of Art. 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (violation of the established procedure for organizing a meeting, rally, demonstration, procession or picketing). The reason for this court decision was that on December 7 and 8, 2009, he held divine services in “non-residential premises” “without coordination with local government bodies and the Department of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan.”

On March 1, the Naberezhnye Chelny City Court overturned the decision of the magistrate court and terminated the proceedings in this case.

Let us recall that in 2009 there were a number of illegal detentions of members of the Jehovah's Witnesses organization.
