On March 12, the Magistrate's Court of Judicial District No. 216 of the Tuapse District of the Krasnodar Territory considered cases of an administrative offense against Sevak Mesropyan and Artem Zograbyan, who were detained on March 11. They were transporting in the trunk of a car the literature of Jehovah's Witnesses ordered by S. Mesropyan by mail for personal use. According to the recipient, he did not know that these books were included in the Federal List of Extremist Literature.
The court found the detainees guilty under Art. 20.29 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (production and distribution of extremist materials). A. Zohrabyan was fined 1,000 rubles, S. Mesropyan - 2,000 rubles.
The seized books were ordered by the court to be "confiscated and destroyed."
Recall that on March 12 in the Moscow region traffic police officers detained a "Gazelle" transporting the literature of Jehovah's Witnesses.
By decision of the Rostov Regional Court dated September 11, 2009, was liquidated a local organization of Jehovah's Witnesses in Taganrog. On October 1, 2009, the city court of Gorno-Altaisk recognized 18 publications of Jehovah's Witnesses as extremist.
