On March 15, another appeal from Russian cultural figures to the President of the Russian Federation was published regarding the bill “On the transfer of state or municipal property to religious organizations for religious purposes.”
According to the authors of the letter , “everything that was once taken from churches should be classified as church property.” They believe that the issue of the location of each specific item should be decided collectively and separately. If the issue of storing property recognized as church property is resolved in favor of the museum, then “the museum will be responsible not only to the state, but also to the Church, which has entrusted the museum with temporary or permanent storage of the item of its property,” the letter emphasizes.
“We are deeply convinced that all problems in relations between religious organizations, the museum and scientific communities can be resolved through civilized dialogue and cooperation,” conclude the authors of the appeal.
Let us recall that earlier artists turned to the patriarch with a request to influence the authorities and stop their “ill-considered actions.”
