The Russian government proposed to celebrate the Day of the Baptism of Rus' as a national holiday

On March 19, the government of the Russian Federation introduced amendments to Art. 1.1 of the federal law "On the days of military glory and memorable dates in Russia" with a proposal to establish a new public holiday in Russia - the Day of the Baptism of Rus'. It is proposed to celebrate it on July 28, the day of memory of Grand Duke Vladimir, canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church.

The festivities will be financed from the federal budget.
