The first meeting of the Council of Orthodox Public Associations took place

On March 23, the first meeting of the Council of Orthodox Public Associations under the Synodal Department for Relations between the Church and Society, established by decision of the Synod of March 5, 2010, took place at the Pilgrimage Center of the Moscow Patriarchate.

Among the public organizations that took part in the meeting, there were also representatives of political movements. In particular, the Union of Orthodox Brotherhoods, the Union of Orthodox Citizens, the World Russian People's Council, the St. Sergius Union of the Russian People, the People's Cathedral, the Russian Social Movement.

Y. Ageshchev, one of the leaders of the Union of Orthodox banner-bearers, Expert of the Council of Orthodox Public Organizations at the Synodal Department, coordinator of the Union of Orthodox Brotherhoods, entered the Council as one of the experts.

The meeting participants discussed a proposal to participate in church-wide events of military-patriotic, military-historical and military-sports clubs, to celebrate the Day of the Baptism of Rus', to hold coordination meetings to prepare Orthodox social events.
