Neo-Nazi detained in Karelia

On March 27, 2010, 19-year-old Nikita Bespalov, a supporter of neo-Nazi ideology, was detained in Petrozavodsk (Republic of Karelia).

It was established that the detainee was engaged in the manufacture of explosive devices, with a view to their further use. The young man planned to " carry out criminal actions that could lead to the death of people and significant damage to structures ."

An improvised explosive device seized during the arrest, weighing more than 400 grams in TNT equivalent, was destroyed on the spot by explosives specialists.

During the investigation, he was also charged under Part 30 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted murder).

In April 2010, right-wing radicals reported that Bespalov had been arrested.
