On April 1, 2010, the investigating authorities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Oryol Region detained four residents of the city of Orel, suspected of committing crimes under Part 3 of Art. 30, part 2 of Art. 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted intentional destruction of property, committed out of hooligan motives, by arson).
In the period from December 2009 to March 28, 2010 in Orel, the detainees set fire to: Torgovy Dom LLC (the premises were rented by the local religious organization of Muslims, the Society of Muslims); prosecutor's office of the Orlovsky district; a church chapel located on Mashkarina Street; cafe "Na Gorodskoy"; cafe "Asiman".
The arsonists used glass Molotov cocktails.
The detainees admitted that they committed the crimes because of personal hostility towards people from the Caucasus.
